Vodder® Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

Drainage Lymphatique

The Vodder lymphatic drainage is a gentle massage technique developed by Dr. Emil Vodder in the 1930s. It aims to stimulate lymph circulation and support the proper functioning of the lymphatic system.

Vodder lymphatic drainage consists of slow, rhythmic and circular hand movements following the path of the lymphatic vessels. This method helps to decongest tissues, reduce swelling (edema), strengthen the immune system, and promote relaxation. It is used for medical purposes (such as lymphedema or postoperative recovery) and aesthetic purposes (such as heavy legs, cellulite, or water retention).

MLD Applications

  • Heavy legs
  • Water retention
  • Improvement of the general condition of the skin (wrinkles, acne, rosacea, etc.) through detoxification
  • Cellulite control and stretch mark prevention
  • Menstrual disorders (painful periods)
  • Sports injuries causing edema (sprains, fractures, etc.)
  • Postoperative edema in plastic surgery (liposuction, abdominoplasty, breast augmentation/reconstruction, rhinoplasty, etc.)
  • Improved wound healing
  • Relaxation
  • Improved general health
  • Pregnancy and post-natal recovery, improved leg circulation, reduced fluid retention

The Effects of MLD

Effect on the Drainage System

MLD moves tissue fluid from one place to another and stimulates the circulation of the lymphatic system.

Effect on the Muscles

MLD cleanses and detoxifies skeletal musculature; it stimulates the blood system and regulates intestinal motility.

Effect on the Neurovegetative System

MLD promotes relaxation and induces analgesic reactions.

Effect on the Immune System

MLD puts the immune system in a better defensive position by accelerating lymph transport as well as cleansing the lymph nodes.

Postoperative Lymphatic Drainage — (Vodder Advanced Body Wellness)

Postoperative lymphatic drainage is a gentle, natural, and non-invasive therapy with remarkable benefits following surgical or aesthetic procedures (liposuction, BBL [including fat transfer and implants], breast surgeries, abdominoplasty, C-section, arm and thigh lifts, etc.).
It stimulates lymphatic circulation, accelerates healing, reduces swelling (edema), minimizes the appearance of scars.

Combined Decongestive Therapy ( CDT)

A therapy for people living with a diagnosis of lymphedema.
Combination of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), specialized exercises and compression (using bandages or compression garments) as well as skin care, aimed at better managing edema.

Integrated Facial Fascia®

Specific to the face, this technique combines lymphatic drainage movements, integrated fascia therapy, neuromuscular stimulation, and natural lifting.
This massage has three goals: tissue detoxification, muscle relaxation and the work of reorganizing the fascia of the head. In addition to greatly promoting relaxation, it provides an anti-ageing effect.

Lymph and Scar Taping (Kinesio Tape)

The adhesive strips have the same elasticity as the skin. When applied in accordance with the anatomy of the lymphatic system, they help stimulate drainage over 24 hours. They are hypoallergenic and stay in place for 5 to 10 days. By slightly modifying the technique of application, strips can also improve scar tissue.
